Engagement

Our outreach activities are at the heart of what we do here at Chameleon. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the joy of sharing music with others, and we are constantly developing new, exciting ways to bring music to our audiences.

Our engagement work spans from nursery through to secondary school ages, with a large portion of our work in SEND settings. We run interactive concerts, interactive assemblies, classroom projects and intensive summer school music days, alongside our own series of family friendly concerts.

We have worked with Live Music Now, SoundWaves South West, Bridgewater Hall "Be Hear Now", Accent Hub and many schools in the North West in both stand-alone events and ongoing projects.

As a result of this work, we are proud to provide a collection of workshops and interactive concerts that have been designed to adapt to any environment, and we are continuously refresh our ideas to mould to the tastes and interests of the students.

With 5+ years of experience in outreach settings, we bring a robust and truly unique offer to the schools and organisations we visit, with 13 instruments spread across the ensemble! Students have the opportunity to hear the woodwind family in almost all of its entirety, and we pride ourselves in performing a wide range of music from different countries, genres and time periods.

“It was a terrific day <of participatory concerts> and one of the children persuaded his parents to bring him to the concert on Saturday after seeing you. That has never happened before!”

Oswestry International Summer School

-----------------------

“The experience from Chameleon was outstanding. They provided a scintillating programme which inspired and excited our pupils in equal measure. Those who were experienced musicians had the courage to put themselves forward and challenge themselves, and those who had never done anything like it before were fiven the fundamental rudiments of musical literacy and, more importantly, the beginnings of an active relationship with music that they might never have experienced in another context. Calm, thoughtful and professional, Chameleon are a pleasure to work with and make a genuine difference to the lives of pupils with whom they come in contact”

Maurice Walters, Head of Summer School
